8 Week Course, with a Day of Mindfulness

Classes run in Fall (October – November), Winter (January – February), and Spring (May – June) sessions.

Despite the challenges in our lives, we can move to a greater balance, relaxation, and an appreciation for the freshness of each moment.

Mindfulness training focuses on bringing the attention fully to the body, feeling states and thought patterns. We discover patterns of holding tension, and learn to let go and settle deeply into our innate strength and peacefulness. By practicing self-regulatory skills in class and at home with recordings, we integrate the wisdom of the mind/body connection into our everyday lives.

Learn skills to help you cope more effectively with stress, pain, illness and the challenges inherent in everyday living. We will practice, mindfulness meditation, gentle yoga, chi gong, and body scanning in a supportive group setting. 30–45 minutes daily home practice is strongly encouraged during the course to deepen your experience and integrate mindfulness into everyday life.

The course is based on the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction model developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. This approach has been implemented in 250 medical centers worldwide, with patients suffering from conditions such as job and family stress, anxiety, depression, fatigue, chronic pain and illness, headaches and high blood pressure.

Marion Stork, M.A. CCC, NS Registered Counselling Therapist, is a qualified instructor of yoga, chi gong and meditation. She is an experienced facilitator who has completed professional training in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction with Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn
